La Armonia Hotel
The goal of this project was to create a boutique hotel in Barcelona, Spain that captures the unique culture while providing an inviting guest experience.
Programing
Barcelona exists as one of the largest tourist hubs in the world with around 12 million visitors per year, and the number continues to grow.
The city splits into 10 districts with Cituat Vella and L'Eixample being some of the most popular with tourists.
Barcelona's tourist demographic consists of a wide variety of age groups, but the average age of tourists ranges from 18-34 years old.
Famous attractions in Barcelona include La Sagrada Familia, Gothic Quarter, Montserrat, and the many street fairs throughout the city.
The design concept for this Barcelona boutique hotel comes from the Catalan folk dance called The Sardana. The Sardana dance features partners dancing in a circular formation, representing the unity of the Catalan people, and the dance itself brings Catalan people from all walks of life together. The hotel’s name “La Armonia” alludes to the harmonious unity represented within The Sardana dance. The Sardana dance will ultimately serve as the meeting point for La Armonia’s design, with all the aspects directing back to the roots of its concept.
